Subject and Verb Agreement
Subject verb
agreenment adalah persesuaian antara verb dengan subject dalam hal number yaitu
singular ( tunggal) atau plural (jamak) .
Verb singular
yaitu kalimat yang menggunakan kata each , every ( es , s , is )
Ø Each dan every
Contoh :
1.
Each book at the library is listed ( di perpustakaan
banyak buku tapi karena ada kata each maka mewakili semua buku dan verbnya
menggunakan is ) .
2.
Every girls and boys is in the class
Ø Prepositional phrase untuk menentukan cara bentuk verbnya dilihat dari bentuk noun nya .
Contoh :
1.
The pencil on the book is yours ( kata “ the pencil”
menunjukan noun singular , kata “ on the
book “ menunjukan prepositional phrase . karena bentuknya singular mak verbnya
juga singular yaitu menggunakan kata
“is” .
2.
The cake at on the table ( kalimat ini memiliki noun
dan vernya plural )
Ø Gerund phrase adalah frase
yang terdiri dari gerund ditambah dengan objek dan modifier . gerund phrasejuga
berperan sebagai nomina dalam kalimat .
dalam membuat kalimat bila subjek gerund ( verb ing ) maka verbnya harus
singular .

singular , bisa juga menjadi plural hal ini tergantung pada noun-nya .

Ø “ Each of”, “one of” , “every one of” pada kalimat diikuti plural noun dan verbnya harus
singular .
